COURTESY POST - MILA IS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION WITH KEY TO LION’S HEART RESCUE
Age: 3 years
Size: 30 lbs
Estimated breed: Staffordshire bull terrier mix
Location: Damascus, MD
Mila was found in a ditch at only five weeks old and taken to the local shelter. It was immediately clear that Mila needed veterinary care, as she was crying out in pain and unable to move her body. She was treated for dehydration and a severe parasite infection, but as she recovered it became clear Mila also suffered from neurological problems. She is mostly blind and partially deaf, and due to damage to her cerebellum, she moves a little differently than other dogs. Despite all this, she has absolutely thrived in her foster home, where she remains nearly three years after her rescue. She knows the layout to her foster home and get around just fine. She can hear her name being called and will come when called! She has such a fun, animated personality, you can’t help but fall in love when you see her happily prancing around in circles and barking to get your attention. She shares her foster home with multiple other dogs, and while she doesn’t necessarily play with them, she co-exists just fine. What she really wants is to snuggle with her humans any chance she can get! She gets very disoriented and confused in a crate, so she is left in a playpen when her foster parents aren’t home. She gives minor signals when she needs to go out, but she will never be fully housetrained. A family who is home often to watch her and let her outside is best for her!
Mila has been waiting three years for a forever home of her own. We would like nothing more than to see her finally adopted and in a forever home, like she deserves.
